if you like small school in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do where everyone gets drunk all day everyday then this is the school for you. most people transfer because they don't like it which is hard to do because most credits don't transfer anyways. they only spend most of their money on nursing majors . as a former resident , id rather commute because it's way too expensive for no reason . some professors are dedicated and others not so much . I deff wouldn't recommend this school to anyone . but the campus is pretty ! if that's worth 40,000/ year. parking sucks ! printing is no longer free. the wifi is terrible in the dorms . picking housing is terrible . not worth the money . too many diff cliques it's like a second high school .

I have been attending for a little under a year and so far my experience has been very good. Wonderful professors with real world knowledge. Would recommend to others! This is deff a commuter school though, there isn't much to do in the area.

You can take continuing ed and/or post graduate classes at many other schools, don't make the mistake we did.

many catholic universities provide scholarship/financial aid for international students. Alvernia financial aid session has nothing to offer. They asked me to fill FAFSA eventhough they know me I was neither citizen or eligible non-citizen, finally to say you are not qualified for any aid.

My first year here was not so great. Most of my professors were decent, some much better than others. It's very religious, so if you're into Catholicism then this would probably be a good place, but if you're like me and not religious at all then you'll wanna look elsewhere. Dorms are pretty nice, there were some unexpected mishaps though (hot water not working, power going out, stuff like that). Cafeteria food is not what they make it out to be, but the café food is great and the one is open till 2am, so that's cool. Hopefully my experience here will get better in the next 3 years, but so far it's really just okay.

DO NOT take continuing Ed and/or post graduate classes at Alvernia!! From my experience with them they are underhanded and dishonest! Just when you think that you are done with all of their nickel & dime nonsense, they hit you with a $100 "Commencement Fee" even if you do not intend to participate in "graduation" because you are a parent with 3 kids to take care of. Then they blackmail you and threaten to withhold your hard earned diploma and transcripts if you don't pay their illegitimate and insulting fee.
